Transformers are passive electric devices consisting of two or more coils of wire used to transfer electrical energy from one electric circuit to another by means of a changing magnetic field. The strength of magnetism is related to the size of the electric current. So, the magnetic field will be stronger, if the current is bigger.
It is also important to note that transformers do not generate electrical power; they transfer electrical power from one AC circuit to another using magnetic coupling. The core of the transformer is used to provide a controlled path for the magnetic flux (magnetic field) generated in the transformer by the current flowing through the windings (coils). There are four primary parts to the basic transformer, which include:
● Input Connections
● Output Connections
● Winding
● Core
